Stockholm Residence

Located in the heart of the capital, Stockholm Residence highlights the elegant integration of turn-of-the-century Swedish architecture with luxury European craftsmanship from the early to mid-20th century. Situated in a historic building overlooking the sea, the apartment respects its classical roots while introducing custom elements that enrich its sophisticated character.

The clients, who live a life filled with travel and public engagements, wanted a home that felt both luxurious and welcoming. The design achieves this by combining handmade objects, custom carpentry, and natural materials to create an inviting atmosphere. The layout includes both public and private spaces, with cosy nooks and daybeds throughout to provide space for relaxation.

The design team chose materials like oak floors, painted carpentry, and handmade silk wallpapers to create a cohesive and refined look. Custom pieces, particularly the Italian Fior di Bosco and Fior di Pesco marbles, bring natural beauty to the space. Bespoke furniture and cabinetry designs emphasise attention to detail and quality craftsmanship throughout the apartment.

A major challenge was to blend the clients’ eclectic tastes into a timeless design. The team used a stable material palette featuring oiled oak floors, walnut cabinetry, and natural stones to create a sophisticated backdrop. These elements ensure that the apartment remains elegant and adaptable over time.

Influences from figures like Adolf Loos and iconic locations such as Villa Necchi informed the design, adding a touch of mid-century Milanese elegance. The project was a dynamic collaboration, with the clients’ tastes and input playing a crucial role throughout the process. This creative partnership resulted in a residence that is personalised, timeless, and reflective of the clients’ lifestyle, blending tradition with contemporary sophistication.
